Not very durable: tires and wheels

I am a retired mechanic. I spent 10 years restoring classic muscle cars and building hot rods. I bought these nuts for my personal car and am very disappointed with the durability, or should I say the lack of it. I installed them with hand tools and did NOT use a percussion gun. Every one of them was cut and scratched! Keep in mind that I'm a retired professional not bragging, just wanting to make it clear that I know what I'm doing (I don't use a baton). I couldn't be more disappointed withโ€ฆ

Pros
  • practical item
Cons
  • availability for exchange

Not sure not worth it

These nuts are literally useless I wouldn't trust them with the life of anyone you care about. Whatever they're made of, it's complete garbage. I shot 2 of these on a hairpin. and it did nothing for the hairpin. Checked every bolt and they were fine. I sent back the original nut and everything was fine. 1 stripped nut was interesting but after the 2nd I would never let my girlfriend ride her new wheels again. Also, they are just painted and chip easily. I could just put Lauquer thinner on myโ€ฆ

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • No achievement

Four stars for the price

To be honest, these nuts only got four stars for the price. They arrive well packaged, the finishes are decent and they get the job done. At the same time, the ears themselves are not properly formed. The centerline of the tab's threads don't line up properly with the hex itself, causing them to wobble a bit when screwed on. The fairing itself is painted, which tends to chip. However, they are a one-piece molded approach that will hold securely. This is a massive improvement over my old nutsโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Lots of positive emotions
Cons
  • threadbare

Good price nice packaging

I have used them on some 17" steel rims. It seems to fit well. I was able to get up to 80 pounds with no problem. I'll check again in 100km. I think people having trouble with these seats are probably using them on the wrong rims. Depending on the impeller, the ball seat is critical. I can't say much about the end. I had no chips when initially tightening. The overall processing looks good in my opinion. Let's see how they look in spring. At less than $20 they are about 30% cheaper thanโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Minor issues

Mine hold up - see edit

I've had these black nuts on my Jeep for about nine months and they've held up well so far. With one brake change, one jack installed, and a few tire changes, I've probably removed and reinstalled all five tires five or six times since purchase. I use an impact wrench for removal and then a torque wrench on all lug nuts up to 100 ft lbs for installation. So far the coating is holding up but I can see some signs of wear. I'm not sure if it won't wear out with more tire changes. I think withโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Pleasing
Cons
  • Obsolete model
