The recipe doesn't work, but the weights and lids are fine.

Covers aren't bad so far. I really like glass weights. But I tried two recipes for carrots from the booklet and the fermenting didn't work for me. They were very salty. One had a white film on the glass, weight and carrots. The other had strange muddy water. They didn't smell fermented. There were no blisters. I ferment frequently so I know how it looks, smells and tastes. I repeated recipes using sourdough, unheated low-salinity brine, and the rest of the ingredients. This time I'm seeing…

Hardware is good but company website is suspicious

The hardware itself does its job. But what they sell you is that you also get access to a "VIP Club" with additional recipes and tips. So I was very disappointed when I went to the site and immediately got what was probably some kind of virus (one of those ads saying something like "Congratulations, you're the millionth visitor to the site, you're getting a Revain gift card worth $1,000.". I couldn't get the ads to go away and had to shut down my computer. The company either knowingly accepts…

An easy way to take advantage of the abundance of kale

In 2019 I faced a dilemma when I realized I could grow kale with great success. I wasn't ready for the harvest yet, so we ate cabbage all the time. In 2020 my vegetable garden is just as successful, that's when anxiety set in and I started researching kimchi and sauerkraut. To be honest, the film and mold that formed with normal fermentation methods was a bit annoying. So I dug a bit on internet blogs and found one that talked about these vacuum caps. There's a better way to ferment, woohoo! I…

Amazing hat set, couldn't be happier

To be honest this set is of a very high quality. From the packaging to the products, they have definitely made an effort to offer their customers something great. So you can easily put them in or take them out of your jars. The pump is fast too. Nice and compact so fits easily in a kitchen tool box. What I like most is the little tab on the lid. Makes suuuuuuuuper easy to turn the suction cups on and off. Especially when your hands are wet. It also includes a handy little beginner's booklet…

Delicious results! in Fermenters

***Updated Rating*** I have been using my Easy Fermenter for a few months now. I continue to enjoy the results. My favorite recipes are sauerkraut/carrot-fermented-pepper mix (some sweet, some hot). I have recommended these fermenting lids to many of my friends because they make fermenting food incredibly easy! You will not be disappointed. This is my first review: due to health reasons I had to start making my own sauerkraut and other fermented vegetables. This method seemed the most reliable…

Mixed bag so far. (UPDATE)

Just last night, two out of three of the set began to stray. I tried installing a third one and the glass weight somehow got stuck at the top of the glass (I didn't have a heavy hand, it just landed perfectly to get stuck in the glass) and after half an hour I had to drop everything. the thing came out after I tried to solve it for half an hour. Too bad it was a Bigmouth 2qt ball I will miss so much! One of the other lids had a cross thread and got stuck, apparently the plastic used…

Great product with recycled easy to remove weight.

All in all a great set that is very easy to use. There is some helpful fermentation information that comes with it and the instructions are easy to follow. The reason I gave this product 4 stars is because of the scale design. I don't have the biggest hands (edit - if you have big fingers you'll never be able to grab the weight) and I don't have a physical way to grab the weight to pull it out. I had to tip the jar and grab the charge while partially pouring the contents into another container.

  • Very impressive

  • boring packaging

ABSOLUTELY TRASH! good for kitchen and dining room

I bought 2 of these sets thinking it would be a great way to make sauerkraut this year. And, BOY!, was I ever wrong! MAXIMUM only about 50% of actual can capacity can be used for sauerkraut due to space requirements considering surface area, so from a half gallon can maybe a quart. a liter glass is less than a pint. boiled cabbage. Glass weight/stone Hardly does the job of keeping the fermented contents almost below the liquid level. For cucumbers. There are 6 whole medium cucumbers and 3 half…
