Super sharp blade, comfortably long handle

Curved scalpel blade slides easily under seam when cutting from the side of seam or through the center of seam allowances if you're brave enough to go there. These blades dull quickly, but are easy to replace. Suitable for left-handers, but the blade is on the right side of the handle. The metal handle is strong and heavy enough not to slip out of your hands. I placed one of the pencil pens that elementary school students use to store their pencils and pens on top for added convenience.

Pros
  • Surgically sharp with a curved blade for easy gliding. Screw-lock handle for easy blade changes
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Better than the old seam ripper.

Works very well. Nice and sharp. The blade is thin, easy to cut even very short stitches. I also love that you can swap out the blades when they get dull. My only criticism is the cover. It's rubbery and difficult to insert a blade into. I've noticed that if you don't put it on at the right angle, the blade will cut it. I see that it eventually cuts through the entire cover and becomes unusable. Not a deal breaker as I'm sure I can find a solution if/when this happens. Overall, I like this seam

Pros
  • As most weavers know, sewing involves ripping the seams. Seam ripper is used in many crafts including: sewing, quilting, embroidery, etc.
Cons
  • No power

  • Newer model could have been selected
