Premium Cabin Air Filter with Activated Carbon Odor Eliminator for Dodge Grand Caravan, Caravan, Chrysler Town & Country, Pacifica (2000-2008) - ECOGARD XC35494C Review

Please note this filter only fits 2000-2007 Vans. Newer city and country minivans require EcoGard XC25870. For some reason the website doesn't correctly differentiate between the years.

It's cut off on the sides to fit a very crappy Dodge Grand Caravan dash filter housing but there are no marks on the side up. So if you accidentally remove the dirty one, you have a 50/50 chance of getting it right.

Replaced the purolater with this one. The purolater had an arrow to show the direction of airflow and was cut across for ease of installation. This block had no function and was the most difficult cabin filter I have ever changed. Otherwise it looked the same (2006 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT).

I heeded the warnings that I wouldn't easily fit my Chrysler shop policies. I used scissors to reshape it to look like the Fram filter it replaced. A few cuts and it became the same as the "Fram". This allowed the filter to be partially folded up so it could clean the bottom of the car while it was in place. It was a good compromise compared to the prices of others. So far there have been no problems.

Some 2007 Dodge Grand Caravans were found not to have a cabin air filter. I watched a short YouTube video confirming this. For certain years and models, Dodge went the cheap route and chose not to fit cabin air filters, so you're probably like me and have a musty old lady smell in your used car just like me. RV/T&C access/design is very poor to begin with. Added to this is a somewhat flimsy, thin cardboard frame that seemed too big to hold the filter without damage. It's hard to know if the filter is in the right place, but it took a lot of effort to push it in there. The box has several internal foam rubber edges that rub against the filter when inserted, increasing friction/tightness.
