quality product. Moderately expensive. Recommended, but with some caveats.

It's hard to write a review for just the PH1400 as it doesn't do much without one of the extra tools. If you would like to read my PSA1000 review, you can find it on the PSA1000 product page. I have a Black and Decker pole pruner (with extension) because I've moved to an acre with lots of trees but thought pruning should have been light and infrequent. I also had investments in 20V and 40VB&D batteries and gear so that seemed the logical way to go. My experience with EGO equipment started whenโ€ฆ

Already have a PH1400? This can be a good trimmer for you. Conditionally recommended.

In the spirit of disclosure, I fully support the EGO lawn equipment ecosystem. All EGO tools use the same exorbitantly expensive batteries, but once you've taken the plunge, the additional cost of acquiring the tools is relatively small. The STA1500 and even the 2Ah battery will cost you significantly more than the high-end alternatives. So is it worth it? The STA1500, like all EGO instruments (except for an old blower I had), is fairly well made. I have a fairly detailed review of the PH1400โ€ฆ

It works. A bit overpriced but you don't have a choice when using the PH1400.

My experience with EGO equipment started when I bought a lawnmower kit (with battery and charger). I have since bought a blower, PH1400, PSA1000 and this item. The cost of batteries is so prohibitive that I use my 5Ah battery almost everywhere and it's enough to stay in the same product family. My previous experiences with my Black and Decker saw led me to look for a replacement withโ€ฆ

Good product but be aware of the design tradeoffs when using the PH1400. Still recommended
