I have used it to control a 120v water heater It is wired correctly but has little to no fine adjustment. It seems like the entire adjustment is done in 10% of a knob turn, and it drops off as if power is cut off beyond that point. Swapping it out for a slightly more expensive digital box with identical wiring was much better. You shouldn't come back.

I use a personal vibrator to control the speed and it works great. I got a 6 foot extension from a dollar store and cut it into 2 foot and 4 foot sections. Unfortunately, the cable was #14 stranded wire, which was a real chore when connected to the small screws on the power screws on the ESC. They sell two models of this controller but make sure you choose the model with the fan attached.

As mentioned in previous reviews, the controller only really works on the last 10% of the setting. This controller worked for about 30 minutes controlling the water heating element. I realized that I was no longer in control of my element, so I turned off the power and opened the case to inspect it. As you can see the capacitor is swollen and cracked and the adjustment knob is now free to turn. It was the 120V/1650W element that broke it, way below the maximum output of this unit.
