Just installed last weekend (11/05/19). Replaced an existing fan installed over 20 years ago. Wanted something that hugs the ceiling. This one is perfect. The original fan we had (in the kitchen) was 48" diameter, this one is 42" diameter. The included installation guide was very simple and detailed on wire colors and screw sizes to make installation easy. White color goes very well with the ceiling. Well. The fan runs very quietly on all 3 levels. We recommend!

Not the prettiest or most modern fan you can find, but it is the fan with the lowest profile and good airflow. In fact, for twenty years we have had the same Emerson fan model that we have used at medium or high speed every night of the year, winter or summer. So much served, never clicked and unclicked. When it finally died last week after so many years of trouble-free service, we replaced it with the same one. Easy to install and works with the switch in the wall from the previous fan.

Installation was easy - the engine block has a hook which can be used during the installation process and attaches to the mounting plate on the ceiling so you don't need a support. Second person to hold engine block while connecting cables. I couldn't get an accurate reading with my level during the installation process, so I didn't realize the installation wasn't level until all the blades were attached (last step). I installed this fan in a 12 x 14 foot bedroom with an 8 foot ceiling and the 42 inch fan seems to fit perfectly. The material and processing quality is very good in line with the price of the product. I chose this fan for its low profile, even with a lightweight kit. Installation is fairly easy, but a bit fiddly. The instructions were a bit minimal. This ceiling fan is very beautiful and has the smallest clearance from the ceiling of any fan I have researched. Emerson usually gets good reviews from his fans, but this one almost drove me crazy. It was easy to install and use without hesitation, however, a pulsing hum could be heard at low speed. The kind of throbbing hum you could obsess over when you lay in bed at night and can't sleep.
