This ceiling fan is very beautiful and has the smallest clearance from the ceiling of any fan I have researched. Emerson usually gets good reviews from his fans, but this one almost drove me crazy. It was easy to install and use without hesitation, however, a pulsing hum could be heard at low speed. The kind of throbbing hum you could obsess over when you lay in bed at night and can't sleep. I have removed/reinstalled the fan and checked all wire connections and mounting nuts and bolts to ensure there was no error on my part. Without change. I called Emerson customer service, they said it was the wiring harness and they sent me a new one. After partial disassembly, I installed a new wiring harness, assembled fans - no changes. On the second service call I had to replace some of the wall switches in the house. Without change. They sent me a new fan. I disassembled and packed the original fan. I started installing a new fan and noticed the motor was crooked. It couldn't be good with rotating blades so close to the ceiling, so I took it apart and found that the motor was factory mounted askew on the mounting plate. I couldn't fix it. So I took some washers as shims and attached the mounting bracket to the ceiling at a slight angle, which leveled the motor. The rest of the installation went without incident. The fan made a lot of noise when switched on. I looked closely at the ends of the fan blades and slowly rotated the blades by hand and noticed that some of the blade mounts were badly bent. I ended up replacing the blades and brackets with an original fan that didn't wobble. The fan is now running properly. It has a slight hum, not pulsating, that seems to show up and sometimes doesn't. Since the season is almost over, I will probably put this fan in the room next spring and get another model for the bedroom. I contacted Emerson to return the original fan but they were not happy with it. They even told me to "destroy the field." I told them I'd rather donate it to charity (after trying to straighten the blade mounts). Finally they sent me a shipping label. I've come to the conclusion that every purchase these days is a kind of lottery: sometimes it turns out good, sometimes it doesn't.
