Not worth it on measuring and marking tools

Mine came out of the angle and had weird machining marks on the head. The head is shaped differently from the photo, looks like home, no curves to fit a hand in, just straight lines. The ruler measures well in standard and metric, but without a square head it loses its primary function. I would advise buying something else.

Pros
  • Made in USA
Cons
  • Not bad

Good but not heavy

I needed a larger combo angle so decided to try this one. It works well, but calling it super strong isn't entirely accurate. Mine came from Revane in a padded envelope and the ruler had a slight crease. Luckily it's light enough that I can straighten it with no problem. It's ok for my needs but if you need hard work look elsewhere.

Pros
  • Heavily machined square head for precision
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

Affordable and practical tool

I have a smaller pocket version of this tool and this is just a larger version of the smaller one (or vice versa). The quality is good enough for hobbyist use, but I'm pretty sure everyday use will wear it down pretty quickly. The spring loaded lock nut tends to catch somehow. It will either fall out or shrink over time. The time will show.

Neat Combo Square

I ordered this as a quick and temporary replacement for a Starrett combo square that I dropped on my shop's concrete floor and ruined. This is a decent combo square to use in a shop or workspace. The ruler is aluminum and I still feel like I can bend it slightly but no issues so far. The locking mechanism keeps the blade firm and straight. Machine marks can be seen on the edges of the square, which is also made of aluminum. The black paint seems well baked and the spirit level is clearly…

Pros
  • Quality Construction
Cons
  • Requires Socket

Neat and well made

Anticipating making custom boxes for some collectibles, I purchased this 16" square as the extra length over my 12" square would come in handy for the project. Since the material would be cardboard, I didn't feel the need to resort to Starrett, Brown & Sharpe, or Bridge City tools and expense. Of course, this Empire isn't going to replace the above manufacturers, but for $15 it's well made and gets the job done. No slipping through with a blade and everything is solid. Also very accurate.
