Nice AP that supports client bridge mode

It used to be that most high-end APs supported client bridge mode, but now it seems to be fairly rare, replaced with various WDS and mesh modes that don't do what I need - fortunately EnGenius outdoor APs do still have this feature, and they're priced nicely.I had no issues at all setting it up, plugged the PoE adapter into the AP on one side and my laptop on the other, opened the web interface, clicked around for a few minutes, waited for a couple reboots, and it was running as desired…

Pros
  • Networking Products
Cons
  • The device is designed to be used outside, but it is not particularly weather-resistant, so it may not be ideal for harsh environments.

Buggy - Zero Tech Support

Wouldn't recommend. Ended up returning and going with another companies.I had been using the older versions of the EnGenius point to point bridge. They worked well enough to upgrade to the AC version when one of the older units died after about 3 years. Was able to get the newer versions setup quickly, but the units would select a new channel upon every restart. Upgraded to latest firmware, etc. one unit would select a new channel and lose the link consonantly (but would report it was still…

Pros
  • 11ac Wave 2 Wireless Speeds to 867 Mbps on 5 GHz
Cons
  • Some users have reported signal interference and connectivity issues in certain environments.

Don't expect any support

I'm a tech guy, so I eventually managed to make it work, but it certainly wasn't because I was able to get ANY help from Engenius. In my experience, they have a long history of making products with at least one tragic flaw. On the rare occasions that I have been able to get phone support, I learned how to work around some of the issues and got good service for a time, but then eventually, some device in the system fails, necessitating a replacement, and then the trouble starts all over again…

Pros
  • Optimal Bandwidth Support Extends Application Delivery Over Long Distances
Cons
  • It may not be as widely available as other brands, making it more difficult to purchase or find support if needed
