I am a Soil Conservation Engineer and do a variety of jobs including plant identification. This product really surprised me. I took it as a gamble as the price is relatively low and I'm very happy with it. I showed it to my mum, dad and girlfriend and they all enjoyed looking at the enlarged native flowers. Probably get one of each as I'm sure there are other uses where it's handy or necessary to be able to look at something very closely.

For such a fixed lens magnifier, it has a certain focal length at which it will work. If you move the lens too far, the image will be distorted (upside down). For that, the focal length of a large lens seems to be maybe a quarter of an inch. The small lens is only a few millimeters in size. So, I think it would be fine for a lot of things, but mostly I was just frustrated with using it. I use it to see small details on circuit boards and half the time I find it bumps into other components…

This may be the first time I have given a product five stars on the day it was received , I usually leave room for an opt-out. The final factor for the fifth star was the loupe case - a plastic case with a rubber insert that keeps the loupe (and the key to open the battery compartment) securely in place. I've had several of these devices in the past, and I've always broken them or lost an old jeweler's loupe that got jammed in my eye). As with any high magnification device, focal length is very
