🔍 Optimized EnviroCare Pre Motor and HEPA Filters for Dyson DC17 Vacuum Cleaners Review

I think it's the plastics/materials used to make this filter but whenever we run our Dyson now it smells awful. I'm trying to find a replacement for this filter because of the awful smell. My vacuum has never smelled bad, even with my old, ancient filter. Disappointed with this purchase.

Who knew the DC17 had a HEPA filter? Well I bought mine used but downloaded the manual and it was never mentioned - I had to search through youtube videos to find out where it is! Either way, this pack of two filters fits perfectly and looks good quality. What else can I say?

Quality seems reasonable and they were a lot cheaper than buying replacement filters locally or from Dyson. They were easy enough to install and brought my DC17 back to life. I ended up replacing the flex hose as well, finding that changing the filters fixed the suction issue, FWIW.

I suppose there is some disagreement about the need for a pre motor filter but I had a lot of black (probably motor brush dust). It took a little effort to mount the new one correctly. It's not a detail issue, it's just that the body of the vacuum cleaner is designed the way it was designed. Overall, the vacuum performs better and works great.

I replaced both filters in my old Dyson and it works like new again. What I don't understand is why the post motor filter isn't part of a guide on the Dyson site and that's why my Dyson didn't work. I didn't even know it was there and it took me 2 minutes to replace it. It wasn't until I wanted to buy a pre-filter that I saw this and bought the combo pack. Now everything is in order.

It's high time to replace them, especially the HEPA filter. Two stars deducted because the pre-motor filter didn't fit properly and the lid wouldn't close or latch. I had to push and squeeze the filter slightly to finally secure it, but it still pushed the lid up, opening a gap between the lid and the container. I had to leave it as is because too much force would break the plastic cover.

Everything went great at first! My vacuum cleaner worked like the first time I bought it! I was so happy and excited at how cheap it was! Spring. ONLY after 4 uses. He stopped sucking and doesn't work at all! And now I can smell the smoke! So I had to stop using it and contact Dyson and buy directly from them. Replaced both filters with Dyson 17, pre-filter and post-filter. The new filters I bought from Revain fit perfectly. I didn't even know my Dyson 17 had 2 filters. I've always serviced the pre-filter by flushing it, but I had no idea the post-filter even existed.
