Great projector, but you need an HDMI to HDMI converter to use external speakers (sold separately)

So far so good. So far this projector has been great for our outdoor movie nights. At first I was a little offended that I couldn't connect external speakers to this expensive projector. However, after doing a little research and surfing the web a lot, I found a great gadget that helped me achieve my goal. The device was an HDMI to HDMI converter plus an optical/audio converter. This is required if you want to use external speakers with this projector. In general, everything is fine so far!

Very happy with the Epson VS250. Great budget home theater projector.

Bought the VS250 after returning the pico projector. The pico projector wasn't bright enough for presentations or home cinema. The room was meant to be essentially pitch black, and even then it was gloomy. Not VS250. It's very bright, even in daylight, and the colors are vibrant and the image is crisp. I use it with a Verizon Fios DVR and the picture quality is really good. I have the projector about 11 feet from the white screen and am sitting about 6 feet behind the projector. Is the picture…

Vivid, rich colors and crisp 1080P focus.

Very happy with this projector! I also tried the Optoma projector for the same price. There was no comparison. This Epson is sharp and focused left to right and top to bottom. There are many image adjustments to make it your own. It's super bright and the colors are great. I have it hanging on the wall in my bedroom. I haven't measured it but I would say it's about 9 feet wide. I have audio from my Blu-ray player connected to my stereo receiver. Stereo sound only. The speaker on the projector…

Epson VS250 vs ViewSonic PJD5155 (Buy ViewSonic)

I love Epson but this projector is inferior. The styling is great and it feels like a reliable car. The controls and features are easy to understand, it has good color accuracy and a nice sliding door to manually block the projector's light. But the image quality is poor when it comes to displaying text. I compared this projector to the ViewSonic PJD5155 3300 lumens SVGA HDMI projector and it wasn't even close. Really impressive performance for the price - VS250 SVGA

I was nervous about ordering the 'only' low res SVGA version of this VS250 for movie nights, especially with native 4: 3 instead of 16:9. If I were using it as my main display I could justify the higher cost, but based on my research you would need to spend a little more to see significant improvements. At a distance of several meters, the image is very clear and bright. When you are right next to an image and it is wide-ranging, it is a bit grainy, but not bad at all. This is more noticeable…

Excellent projector

Update 12/20/2019: I called Epson and they sent me a replacement lamp free of charge within 3 days. Works great again! The lamp was out of warranty (90 days) but they still sent me one for free which was nice. Update 11/27/2019: After 8 months the lamp no longer works. I've only used the projector for about 100 hours. I'll call Epson to see if it's still under warranty. I bought this projector to use in my bedroom with a casual setting.
