It is actually embroidered unlike many of the other ascots shown here; The fabric is dense and structured so it doesn't slip easily. My only complaint is that it's short. Like, very briefly. I practically have to have a tag on the front of my neck to tie it with the right tolerance in the front and I only have a 17" neck. Other than that, it's pretty cute. I have never worn ascot when wearing this for my steampunk outfit. Finding tying instructions on YouTube was relatively easy. This part of my costume was actually one of my favorite parts because it's not the quality of the costume. The tie is ok. It looked amazing and there are multiple ways to tie it to get the desired effect in your costume. The different types of binding are also relatively simple. at least simpler than your standard Windsor knot for typical ties.
