📏 Gloss Meter Glossmeter ETB-0686: Precise Measurement of Surface Gloss in 0-200Gu Range Review

The ETB-0686 gloss meter worked as expected. It had good reproducibility and was easy to use. It is packed in a sturdy case to ensure good long-term protection. A very good unit.

This gloss meter works very well but after a few uses it does not calibrate as instructed. This is the reason for 4 stars. I found another way to calibrate the machine properly and it runs continuously and intelligently. I've compared it to a $2000 gloss meter, it's as good as the expensive one. I recommend this to everyone.

Good things first: it comes in a neat carrying case. It's pretty easy to use. There are only 2 buttons to press, so it's easy to understand what they do. I tested this when detailing the car. While the readings are higher the higher the polish I used, they are not consistent at all. 5 readings in the same place gave 5 different numbers every 5 times. 2 or 3 of these readings differed by more than one point. I've noticed in our house that there are different "glitters" in different places; most likely due to the tint. I've used this device to inspect every wall in our house to see what exactly "shines" on most of them. It was lightning fast! I then tested many of the areas that didn't look the same and made sure they were either more or less shiny. I bought the correct color with the sheen/gloss to best match and retouched each stain.
