Basically a good product.

All in all this is a great useful product if you don't want to program/pay for a managed switch, it's a cheaper way to get fiber optic extension for your network. That being said, out of the 5 or 6 times I've used them, this is the first that came with a bad SFP module. Luckily I had one on hand.

Pros
  • Permanent Test Results
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Good quality fiber converter

This product was perfect for our situation. We had an end point over 300 feet away so we hooked up a Cat6 to the converter and for the rest we hooked up an OM3 MMF to the end point. without packet loss. Great solution at a very reasonable price!

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Nothing here

Good price and good work.

Our utility provided a dark fiber path between the newspaper and the radio station across the street, but provided 100Mbps media converters. These devices gave me high performance as well as a single fiber configuration to increase the number of virtual networks between sites connecting the tv servers in one building, the stl channel in another and the production studio across the street to the tv servers .

Pros
  • Great selection
Cons
  • Definitely bad product

It works. Computer and accessories

It keeps what it promises. I got about 930Mbps with it, which is what I get compared to regular 1000BASE-T. I'm a big fan of the metal case. However, the price is not the best. You can get it without the SFP transceiver and just buy your own transceiver on eBay. The cheap ones are fast enough and I found a 4 gigabit device for less than $2 including shipping. The TP-Link alternative is about the same, metal body and all, but cheaper if you add your own transceiver.

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • So far so good

It's ok for the price but I'm not satisfied

It's supposed to move 1.25GB but it's actually a lot slower. My internet speed is 300 MB/s. I tested it at 600 feet in one mode. Duplex fiber, the data transfer rate is only 75Mbps. I thought it was my fiber, then I went to an electronics store to buy a 9m fiber patch for testing and got the same reading. The speed was between 75 and 80 Mbit/s, exactly the same with 600 feet of fiber optic cable, so no cable but converter. Hope this helps other buyers.

Pros
  • Same as everything so far
Cons
  • Clarity

Small size matters

I bought this fiber optic media converter to create an ethernet connection between an ROV and a ground station controller. Fiber optic solved some of the problems that UTP caused for me. The signals from the 3 cameras and the control connection are transmitted via fiber optic cables. I chose this media converter because it was cheap and had the LC connectors I needed. The small size was also decisive. I removed the case to make it easier to insert the media converter via the mini switch.

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

I bought a pair of these with the appropriate SFPs to connect 2 buildings. The connection is fine at 1GB so it was spot on. I wish they had holes so they could be easily wall mounted. I put mine on shelves but it would be much better if they could be hung on the wall.

Pros
  • Special offer
Cons
  • I won't say anything
