Worked when others failed

I used a tool that allowed me to crimp the Category 5 cable connector The plastic connector in my crimping tool kit was cheap and did NOT stay connected to my router. (It clicked but wasn't stuck) To fix this I plugged this short cable into my router and then plugged a cheap connector into the jack on this short cable. The inexpensive plug is now firmly in place and does not slip.

Pros
  • Category 6 cable
Cons
  • I am writing back

Ideal for repairing ethernet cables with broken latches.

If you have a long, hard-to-replace ethernet cable that has a broken tab, use one of these to "extend" it a bit. You can insert the broken plug into the socket of this power strip and use a cable tie or zip tie to fix the broken plug tightly. Then plug in the male side where it belongs. Much easier than cutting the cable and going through 8 cumbersome wires into a new plug only to fix a broken latch causing the cable to fall out of its socket.

Pros
  • Cables and Accessories
Cons
  • No Instructions

Not for parallel outlets

These are good cables and work great, but the insulation at the strain relief around the plug is too wide to work with side outlets. For example the back of the router as shown in the second picture. These cables are too wide to fit into these connectors. I ended up having to cut the rubber on either side of the plugs where the adjacent socket was. See the first picture. Luckily, these cables don't get a lot of movement, so losing the strain relief isn't a problem in my application.

Pros
  • Ethernet cable
Cons
  • I'll add later
