Very small: power tool parts and accessories

It does what I want, but every time I touch it, I turn white. If I tap something on it, the rest of the chalk falls off. I don't know how long that will take.

Pros
  • Top marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Outdated

Happy Jeweler: Power Tool Parts & Accessories

Very light weight, as described. Got this at a great price and very handy when making my jewelry that requires soldering. Thank you seller for a great product at a great price.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Something different

Light weight, suitable for lower temperature soldering

Very light weight. Works fairly well, although at higher temperatures it burns a bit leaving a black crust and a bit of roughness so the top isn't flat. Otherwise it works great in cooler temperatures and keeps the surface underneath secure which was the purpose of my purchase of this brick.

Pros
  • One year trial period
Cons
  • Some disadvantages

Decent but dusty - power tool parts and accessories

Decent but very dusty when opened and I had to put on a breathing mask when I opened mine because I don't want to breathe in that nasty stuff no matter what it is made of. Warning: Do not use metal clay when sintering, especially copper art clay. My very small piece of metal has started to melt through the block even though the block says the max temp is 2k and the max temp on my torch is 2k.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • No instructions

Crumbly, flammable, strong odor when used

Turns black very quickly (may catch fire) when you solder metal jewelry such as copper or sterling silver, this brick has a strong harmful effect because the odor will result causing me to get sick. It's crumbly and dusty when I received it, pieces were falling off the nooks and crannies. I can look at other fire stones and try others. I'm not sure if this product is supposed to do such things.

Pros
  • Tools and household goods
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

Withstands torch soldering

I first bought this block to solder stainless steel with a 100w soldering iron. Worked great for that. I recently had to solder some 1/2" copper piping and fittings. This block came in handy so I soldered the fittings onto this block. It was red hot but survived. Damn better than burning a bench or paint in a vise to burn.

Pros
  • Power & Hand Tools
Cons
  • So far so good

I would definitely buy again!

This soldering block makes an excellent refractory for heating both sides of a piece of metal with a torch. It is also an excellent resting place for hot materials such as a freshly fired plunger or for setting down the crucible when melting silver and gold. I've had it for over 6 months now and haven't noticed any major signs of wear. It will most likely last a long time for me. If you're the type that likes to push rocks in to create a hole to put a ring or piece of metal in, this works…

Pros
  • Power Tool Replacement Parts
Cons
  • Fold Pack
