Function: Coolant thermostat housing's job is to block the flow of coolant to the radiator until the engine has warmed up. When the engine is cold, no coolant flows through the engine. Once the engine reaches its operating temperature, the thermostat opens. By letting the engine warm up as quickly as possible, the thermostat reduces engine wear, deposits and emissions. Design:It includes the thermostat and gasket with the housing. In the event there is need to replace the thermostat, integrated designs make the replacement job much simpler. You can replace the car thermostat housing quickly with no fear that in the process the housing may be broken or damaged(A pair of nitrile gloves is a gift for you). Did the Dealer Charge $600 to Fix a Coolant Leak? I replaced the hose first and found the thermostat housing had a crack so we ordered this unit and it fit like it came from the factory! There is no more leak and I think it only takes us a few hours to replace the parts and $50. The product corresponds to the declaration, fits as it came from the factory, no problems.

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • Expensive

Direct replacement for stock Mopar thermostat

Quality replacement part, about $10 cheaper than OEM. You can save another $10 by just replacing the thermostat in the original case, but I read a review that talked about microcracks developing in the plastic case - I think it's safer to replace the entire unit. Cleared the P0128 trouble code (which clears the Check Engine Light aka MIL) and all is good (so far).

Pros
  • , good stuff
Cons
  • Can't remember but there was some

Not Impressed - Replacement Parts

Was happy with the original unboxing of the thermostat but looks like I received a broken one. It doesn't seem to open, stayed closed, brought it up to normal operating temperature, drove it around my area. I live in the mountains so there are a decent number of hills so the motor runs pretty well. I've had coolant bubbling in my receiver at home and the radiator didn't have this problem before I replaced it simply because my original case had a hairline crack. I'll just go ahead and get an OEM

Pros
  • Solid Finish
Cons
  • Damaged

Good value at $6 compared to local parts store

This is my 4th thermostat and housing on my 2012 Wrangler...243,000 miles...of 4 I've had . It has a better plastic body , and the spring and thermostat holder don't look late. The factory and 2 others are not a good match. I think some of the issues with them are misalignment causing them to stick. The aftermarket models lasted 18 and 11 months, only 300 miles on this Evil Energy unit but I like what I'm seeing. I hope I don't need another one, but I will buy this one again if the need arises.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors
