Great product. We've had several dehydrators over the years, starting with Ronco and most recently with American Harvest. The rest were round, and all had one big mistake. Racks were placed directly above the engine, causing the drops to destroy the heater. I have made jerky several times and appreciate this dehydrator every time I use it. Hands down the best dryer ever. Food dries evenly. A piece of cake to peel and use. I use it all day every day. If you're wondering what size to buy, take more than you think. You will use every shelf. They are easy to fill. If you get smaller, you'll kick yourself later. I swear. I was so thankful I bought a larger Excalibur. I love it! Okay, so it looks like a piece of a 1980's stereo, it's black plastic with the leathery texture you're used to from car interiors, and it's big enough to tell the difference make, but it seems works pretty well. I love this food dehydrator! I have a much smaller one that didn't fit much and I found it frustrating to go to the trouble of drying food only to be able to do so little at once, so I took the plunge and bought this Excalibur model. and I'm so happy I made the change.
