The locking mechanism on this item is the wrong shape for my tank and will not close. Because of this it's completely useless and I can't even use the outside lid clips to hold it in place as the hatch opens and can't be latched.

Great lid perfect for my 20 gallon tank. I was a little concerned because the dimensions given are not large enough for the plastic rim on the top of the tank, but the extension of the metal rim allows it to be placed on top. Covers the entire top of the aquarium and with screen clips I make sure my snake can't escape. The screen is strong and smooth, and there are no metal edges protruding anywhere that could potentially harm the pet.

I was a little concerned from Heinz that the dimensions might not be correct, but it fits my standard just fine -20-gallon (not long) size. I use this in conjunction with another product "(2 packs) Zilla Reptile Terrarium Covers Heavy Duty Screen Clips, Large 30Gallon or more, 2 Clips each" which ensures my snake stays in place (the perfect spot for what she said joke). but Heinz is too subtle for such comedy.
