Weak Audio Alert

Does the job. The audible alarm is rather weak and could only be heard in the same or adjacent room. That's the reason for my three stars as I was really looking for a sound that sometimes helps when I'm working alone. The product description says "loud pulsating beep indicating local continuity" which is not true of the device I received.

  • Confident

Huge time saver Best in Electrical

I was able to check the continuity of the circuit and identify the wires in the circuit. The board is a great time saver. When the tester arrived it didn't work. I loosened the screw and opened the battery compartment. I was a little upset as the battery wasn't installed and I didn't see it in the box. After I finished the day and put the tester away, I found a 9 volt battery in the storage bag. I didn't even think to look there.

Used to trace doorbell wiring. works wonderfully.

I'm sure there are competing products. But as a non-electrician I really like it. I don't need to relearn the functions of a multimeter to understand this. It took me a few seconds to trace my doorbell's wiring and make an audible noise. I wish I had had this many years ago when renovating a 1950's house and replacing much of the wiring that was installed incorrectly by the homeowner. One of the best products I've bought.

Great Product: Electrical

I had this not long ago but bought it because I needed to trace some electrical wires in a few spots and it hasn't disappointed yet. It works great. As mentioned earlier if you are only monitoring 1 wire you can connect the other (black) wire to ground with the main unit and remote control and the red wire to the wire under test and it will work. It was pretty accurate for me out to 50 feet, that's all I tested. Highly recommended for your power tool bag and I will definitely buy again. Wellโ€ฆ

Error after tracing 2 wires.

From the description this was just what I needed to trace wires around the house. Unfortunately it failed after the 2nd line. I redid the wiring in my office and after disconnecting it from the fuse box and hooking up a remote to that end (no power) I was able to trace 2 wires then the case just died. The green light kit still told me the battery was fine, but the other end never lit up. I even connected the remote directly to the main unit and still no good. Wanted to like it but it doesn'tโ€ฆ

Totally dead on arrival.

Totally dead on arrival. I put in a new 9V battery and the green light came on. I went to the other end of the line to check and I couldn't read anything from him at all. I thought I might have found the wrong piece of Romex so I replaced it with a different one. Again nothing. I then took a short piece of Romex and plugged it in where I could visually check that the connections were correct and still nothing. I changed the cables, turned it on and off, changed the battery and nothing. Seeโ€ฆ

Great Versatile Continuity Tester

I bought this a few months ago and used it for the first time yesterday. This is a great labor saving device. You can use a simple tester for a very quick continuity test - ideal for testing bulbs, switches, etc. For long leads, simply connect the tester to one end of the two-wire set and the remote indicator to the other. the end. The remote indicator will not light up if you have the wrong wires, will turn red if you have the correct wires but got mixed up with the tester on the other endโ€ฆ

  • Absolutely Amazing!

Great little addition to your toolbox

I have an old one; Sears handyman. Exactly the same on the letters. The cables to the battery eventually broke and I decided not to try to fix it but to buy a new one. I am renovating my house; Well, with the help of a contractor and a team! I've had a lot of Romex cables running back and forth and just dropping or connecting to something for unknown reasons. I use this Extech (and my old Sears) to keep track of which wires go where. It's a simple principle; The device simply sends a smallโ€ฆ
