Excellent registration thermometer

This thermometer gave me good results for what I needed. Logging works well, the generated CSV file allows any spreadsheet program to open the log.

The probes burn out too quickly

The probe has to withstand up to 50°C and we work at around 180°C - 190°C. It burned out in less than 30 days and it's impossible to do business with the company just to get warranty parts. What a nightmare.

Pros

Excellent temperature and humidity recorder

This box is exactly what a temperature recorder should be. Easy to set up, fairly accurate, and absolutely no mess, fuss, or worry. They tell him to keep a journal and he just logs, no frills. The data is stored on the SD card in a human-readable form that can be read with a spreadsheet, math program, or text editor. Fabulous.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Good but not great

Happy with the purchase! Strange battery compartment.

Good product, very accurate. Overall I am satisfied, compared to other thermocouple thermometer options with comparable accuracy I am happy with my purchase decision; especially considering the price. The only minor issue I've found is that the screws holding the battery cover are also two of the four screws that hold the body of the device together. This makes it so that replacing the battery also almost means taking the device apart. It's a weird and frustrating setup, but it didn't cause any

Broke after 8 months of infrequent use!

We received this in January 2020. We have a large incinerator and some customers require documented incineration. This figure shows data for all four areas, but we only use two probes. On average, we run the oven for a few hours once or twice a week. Very disappointing! Luckily we completed the final critical burn with all four probes and data. I hoped that for this money it would be a reasonable solution to our problem. I didn't want to spend €1,000 or more. So now I don't know what to do.

Interference? What kind of interference?

This is not a traditional product review. This is a video summary of my take on the problem of interference between thermocouples when operating on a common electrically conductive surface (copper tubing). I first heard about it from Revain through a review of the Extech TM500 product. During testing, I found that the SDL200's display showed neither CLEAR noise nor REPEATING fuzzy noise. If there are glitches, I either skip them or they don't show up. In a way I would like to see it. I hope…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • boring packaging
