Get the job done! fits optical drives

I ordered this to download software from CD onto my new HP Scepter laptop which does not have a CD drive. The product is nice and thin and has a hidden USB cable. It's literally plug and play, put in the software CD and my computer recognized it with no problems. Very easy!

I used it twice and it died. The solution was stupid.

I've used this disc player twice and the third time (to access old photos on old discs) it stopped working. Plugged it in and it worked, the light was flashing green so I put the DVD in and that was it. I had to remove the disc with a paperclip. The return window just ended so I said it's a double hockey stick let me take it apart. The USB cable is just a mini USB cable that is plugged into the drive board and unplugged. Works great on Win10 box, Linux Mint as well as CloudReady ChromeOS.

I played various DVDs and CDs, burned a movie to DVD on W10 and connected it to a CloudReady ChromeOS USB hub. It reads and plays VOB, mp3, mp4, etc. No extra steps required, just plug n play. Everything worked as it should, no problems. I am not affiliated with the seller, Mfr or Amzn, have not received any compensation or gifts for this review.
