Perfect fit for my Shimano SPD (M520) pedals. This inexpensive tool allows you to disassemble the pedals to clean and lubricate the bearings. Can a large set of pliers or channel locks be used? I'm not 100% sure but I think the new Shimano pedals use a metal nut instead of the plastic "nut" that holds the spindle to the pedal body. In any case, this little tool ensures that you can loosen a plastic nut without destroying it with a vise, lock or pliers. But no matter how the spindle is attached, if the bearings are regularly lubricated, your pedals will last practically forever. And for the price, so what!
