I use these a lot to sharpen my planes, chisels and folding knives . Mine have worn to the point where they don't cut as quickly, but still work great and show no signs of damage. The only criticism I have of them is the reversible design itself. In hindsight, I would have preferred not to wipe the plate while sharpening or flip it to move on to the next grit. That being said, the fact that they're mounted with tabs at the end at least gives you a good way to grab the plates if you need to move

Received this as a gift for my grandfather, item arrived quickly and was packaged incredibly well. The company even wrote a sincere thank you letter and said they would be contacted if there were any problems. The quality far exceeded my expectations and his and he sets the bar high by being an old school contractor who only uses old school hand tools and methods and doesn't stop until everything is a thousandth of it. I have sharpened dozens of knives with it and I can say that it works very well. As with any stone, you must maintain a certain angle when sharpening. However, using a finer grit helps control mistakes while still providing more than enough stock removal to get the job done in record time (assuming you're not trying to redo the blade, just sharpen it).
