An excellent tool - sharpening stones

This is about twice the size of the smaller brass handled version I usually buy and it's cheaper! The increased length is useful in many ways, it's just not an issue in terms of cost. Buy two!

Pros
  • Fine diamond grit; 600 grit; our best all purpose shot
Cons
  • Uncertain

My knife seems to be getting dull instead of sharpening

This knife is rougher than my previous one. In fact, my knife seems to dull rather than sharpen. Maybe it will get better with time. I use professional steel to remove the burrs later. Not sure what the problem is.

Pros
  • Made in the USA
Cons
  • New competition has arrived

Perfect! Sharpening steel

I used to have other sharpening steels and found them ok. I like this one a lot because it does its job very well. I keep 4 of my other fillet knives and 2 boning knives in the case. As an avid angler, after more than 1000 trips in a year, I clean "LOTS” of fish between 100 and 150+. So it's very important that I keep my fillet. The knives are nice and sharp. After 3-4 fish I clean the blade and turn the steel a couple of times to get it sharp again. A sharp fillet knife will cut your time in…

Pros
  • Professional diamond sharpening steel
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
