Square and heavy: carpenter's square

Just to add to everyone else's report, mine just arrived on 1st December 2018, rectangular, made of nice thick metal, with strong magnetic attraction. The underside is nicely sanded with some polish on top and the numbers are neatly engraved. As mentioned elsewhere, there are superficial scratches on the metal finish that would likely have occurred over several months of normal in-store use (at least for me). I wonder if they were all stored in one barrel during the packaging process? Theseโ€ฆ

Love it - the magnets are REALLY strong

Overall I think this is a nice little square. It feels like a very difficult task. Compared to my Swanson Speed Square, that's for sure. Either both are perfect, or both don't work. As for the magnets, that's why I bought the device, but now I wish they weren't there. They collect so much metal dust. To be honest I'm not even sure where it came from. I don't actually do metalwork. But once it gets sucked into the small indentations of the magnets, it will be impossible to get out. I've triedโ€ฆ

FastCap Magnetic Micro Square

I bought this 4 inch magnetic square for my new Dewalt DWE7491 table saw to check that the blade was at a 90 degree angle to the table. Unfortunately, Dewalt doesn't believe in cast iron or even steel table saw blades. I can still test the blade for accuracy, the square just has nothing to stick to. The square itself has very strong magnets. The surfaces are very flat, true and square. The base is wide and has some weight to keep it from tipping over easily on a non-metallic surface. The bladeโ€ฆ

I received a square marked as new but clearly dirty and used.

I don't have any other precision squares to measure accuracy with so I bought that first. But I agree with another review here that says it looks like it's been rolling in the toolbox for a year. I unwrapped the "brand new" square and it was covered in dust and oil. But of the two still more egregious defects was the first. Visible oxidation so I assume it won't last very long. I think we all know that this is the worst thing that can happen to a piece of steel like this. 2. Localized andโ€ฆ

Decent square for its price, not ultra high precision.

Ordered this micro square from Revain. When I received it I noticed I was having trouble setting the lathe to 90 degrees. I tested it and found that it's not exactly square. I contacted customer service through the FastCap website. They contacted me the next day and sent a replacement free of charge. The new one is better, but not perfect. Checking a square with "draw line, rotate, draw line" from the bottom of the base to the vertical is so close to 90 degrees that when it's off at all, it'sโ€ฆ
