Defective, inferior goods

Instructions followed verbatim. It initially passed the leak test even when it was filled with water overnight without any attachments to the valve. At the end of the very first met, the valve stopped working and started leaking everywhere when the ceramic pitcher adapter was removed. Honey spilled on my kitchen table and I had to put it in a glass bottle. Now the valve is broken forever and I will never be able to ferment anything with that fermenter again.

Ideal Size: Kitchen & Dining Room

I read all the reviews about valve leaks and broken valves and decided to give it a try anyway. Yes, the 6" top cap is leaking, but that's an easy fix. Teflon tape. 5 or 6 turns. Ready. There are no leaks from above and all CO2 exits the lock as it should. Glue the bottom flap firmly. (I did 8 turns) and DO NOT tighten the valve like a gorilla, just tighten it. The same with the bottom glass. I turned it all the way and made another 1/32 turn. Perfect, no leaks. They warn you in the manual not…

The lid is leaking and cannot be closed.

Good idea, but there are some problems. The lid doesn't close at all. doesn't even get into the sluice. I sprayed soapy water around the lid after the second day of fermentation to see how bad and leaking it was and was surprised by the amount of bubbles that came out from under the lid. had to use a rubber strap around the cap and a racquet strap around the tank to hold it in place to tighten the cap and bubbles still came out. The tank moves a lot in stance but doesn't tip over. just means…

Then it is better to use jugs.

Update to my rating: Downgraded one star to 3 stars. After 5 months and 3 batches the lid cracked. Not quite sure how that is possible. You can see it in the photo. Now I'm looking for a case. Still a cheap way to ferment in a conical tank and more enjoyable than using bottles. Facilitates the transfusion. The only thing I noticed is that the glass gets tight making it difficult to remove when pumping. I like that you can add larger glasses. I supplied the larger jar for the primary and the…

Great for small batches and saves time!

FastFerment makes making batches of 2.5 gallons easy. If you're careful how tight you make the fittings, you'll be fine. If you have your hops packed in bags, you can let the primary and secondary fermentation take place in them without racks. Yeast removal is very easy thanks to the glass attachment. I will not go back to glass bottles or buckets after getting this. Twist them if you twist them a little. Use a decent amount of tape each time you reattach the valve after cleaning. Check for…

Works well but could be better.

I've brewed two batches of beer in it so far and it works well. Pros: - The lid is large enough to be easily cleaned by hand. - The plastic looks well made and I did not notice any plastic smell. - The cone bottom is convenient for removing dirt and yeast. Bad - The screw on the cover is leaking. I even wrapped the steps in teflon tape, but gas comes out during fermentation. The problem is not a problem because the fermenter is under slight pressure. After harvesting the yeast and putting the…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Clarity

I have been home brewing small batches (1-2 gallons) for many years and have been on the Looking for a conical setup with trap deposits (like the catalytic converter) but didn't want a setup larger than 5 gallons. FastFerment has a few larger models that I liked, but their 3 gallon model was the perfect size for what I wanted. While this saves time, it also reduces the risk of contamination - once you've placed your wort and yeast in the sanitized machine. , must not be opened until the day of…

Don't listen to negative reviews. I call it user error

This thing is awesome. My only complaint. and it doesn't matter. is that the fermentation tank is quite thin. Not so thin that I feel like it's going to break, but it will bend. The box contained everything I needed to get started. Any o-rings, gaskets, hoses, nipples, caps, airlocks, fittings, valves and jars that you can request. It even comes with a roll of twine! I was pleasantly surprised as I thought I would have to travel for it. All you need to cook is sanitizer, yeast, and honey! I see

A good product that could have been a great product

This is a great idea that fell a bit short in execution. With a few relatively minor modifications, this could be a great product. First, there must be some type of gasket/washer between the base valve assembly and the stein adapter and a thicker washer between the adapter and the stein. And so the whole assembly flows like a sieve. The only way to stop the leak was to tighten the adapter to the point where it snaps and then it won't loosen until I can remove the entire assembly from the…
