Simple and effective repair of the Fabco backflow preventer

It helped. We had several days of cold weather in Texas when it was well below freezing and my backflow preventer blew. It was this thing. A replacement was ordered so I had to wait but when it arrived I just unscrewed the old one and screwed in the new one - fixed. I had to screw it in twice as the o-ring didn't fit properly the first time. The replacement couldn't be simpler and there are detailed instructions online.

New design spare part for Check Valve

New model to replace old, fragile plastic valve parts. This two-piece replacement fixes the flimsy three-legged spider valve and piston. The ancient spider absorbs the full power of the water/ice as it expands. The new lower piston transfers the load to the spider's strong threaded bottom. Wow, why didn't I dare to spend the extra money to replace two parts? Much better that the metal parts of this expensive FEBCO 765 check valve should last longer.

Do not buy other brands

I have changed the hood and latch 3 times since last October. The non-standard marks didn't last long, but once I was sure everything was ok, they started leaking. In the end I broke down and bought a genuine Febco part. Installation took five minutes, literally five minutes. It glided like silk. If I had bought the genuine part from the start I would have saved more than a few dollars more than this part is worth. Please learn from my mistake, save your time, money and water and switch to…

This one doesn't leak

I had one for many years until the cold broke it. Then another frost broke the replacement so I bought another brand that was more durable. It hasn't even been 2 years since it started leaking. I changed tires but to no avail. It seems to be a general problem. I hooked up this guy and it works great with no leaks. The moral of this story is not only to shut off the water in the riser when frost approaches, but also to DRAIN the valve using small nipples on the side (screwdriver slot and plastic

It is not possible to remove the nut from the assembly.

The unit comes with a nut already installed to secure the flare to the cover. No effort with two pliers could pull it out. As a result, these parts (I ordered two) turned out to be useless. I had to send them back. Unfortunately this is not part of Febco. Febco ships their bonnet repair kits with the nut NOT attached, so it only takes a few minutes to fit one of their bonnet repair kits. I struggled with this non-OEM part for almost an hour before giving up. I hope Revain will start supplying…

Installation is easy, but I didn't find any instructions in the kit.

I noticed a leak in my PVB sprinkler after a recent freeze in Houston. I was about to buy a new PVB when I found this kit that replaces the part that broke during the freeze (it's actually designed to break so the rest of your system stays safe during the freeze). For half the price and a lot less work I was able to get my sprinkler system up and running as soon as Revane Prime could supply it. Installation is easy but I couldn't find any instructions in the kit so I had to turn to YouTube. It…

Easy to replace, buy a spare.

Most likely this was done so that the pipes would not burst. They're expensive for what they are, but I think it's easier/cheaper than replacing tubes. Be sure to cap the pipes before winter and/or stop using the sprinkler system during the year. Made this mistake and the neighbor next door was unhappy. Ease of installation. Don't skimp and go blue. He served half as long and broke in warm weather. I met the President who happened to be in a store in Houston, nice guy. They have that stupid and

I wish I had seen this 10 years ago!

So I will tell you this story, I hope it will make you smile. I moved to Minnesota and bought my first house 14 years ago. The first year I got home I found my street flooded because it was the first cold morning. I've been broke since it was my first home and I went to the local Ace hardware store to ask for this part but no one had anything for me. I've found a few things over the years to plug this hole, but nothing has worked for the job. I gave up and on earth I wanted to trade all that…
