So far, so good. A working null modem adapter.

Does what it says on the box: I can communicate between two PCs with this cable and a DB9 connector on another PC. I'm writing a telecom program and needed to be able to debug the program on my PC and another physical device. I was able to connect reliably at speeds up to 230 Kbps. It's twice as fast as 115 Kbps on a PC with a hardware UART, so I'm happy with that. As others have said, this is connected as a NULL MODEM or DCE device. In most cases this is not the cable you need and you will…

Do not buy for your FT-450D

I bought this cable for my Yaesu FT-450D to connect to my rig control computer but it does NOT work. I've just spent a few hours trying to get it working with no success. I bought this cable to replace the Sabrent USB to RS232 (male) cable because the serial port on the radio is a male and I had to use a female to female adapter which means the Sabrent Cable can't be screwed into the radio, so it's not safe. The Sabrent cable has the same pl2303 chip that worked for me but this Dtech doesn't…

Pros
  • Computer cable adapter
Cons
  • Good but not great

Works great as a Linux serial console to USB adapter

I have several Linux servers with DB9 serial ports that I need to monitor the serial console. This serial adapter cable allowed me to connect it to a DB9 port and a USB port on another Linux machine. Now I can just login via serial console or log Linux console activities on the second box in case of error.

Pros
  • Computer Accessories and Peripherals
Cons
  • Seniors

They did not match my order

They did not match my order and I have requested a refund but never received a response from the supplier. I went back to a previous order of cables that cost a few dollars more. Sometimes it's worth buying better the first time, but right now I'm stuck with 10 cables that don't do me any good. 80 bucks down the drain.

Works great as a Linux serial console to USB adapter

I have several Linux servers with DB9 male serial ports that I need for serial console monitoring. This serial adapter cable allowed me to connect it to a DB9 port and a USB port on another Linux machine. Now I can just login via serial console or log Linux console activities in case of error in the second field.

Pros
  • Designed to connect serial devices such as DB9 PCs, routers, GPS, programmers, barcode scanners, label writers, serial modems, digital cameras, card readers, pocket computers and digital organizers, etc.
Cons
