Description of Solid Wood Ferment It Sauerkraut Pounder - Optimal Vegetable Fermentation Tool

This sauerkraut tamper is made from one solid piece of food grade German beech wood, so you don't have to worry about glue coming in contact with your food, and cracks. Fits both wide and regular mouth mason jars. Measures about 12" long x 2 1/4 at the wide end x 1 3/4 small end.

Does the job! good for fermentation and other purposes

Much easier than trying to smash something with your fist. Works great, quickly setting up sauerkraut, kimchi, or any other fermented vegetable mix. I oiled it when I first got it and only hand washed it.

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...

A tool I didn't know I needed.

. until I needed it. Really high quality. I use it regularly to process sauerkraut. I suspect it would be great for self-defense as well, although (thankfully) I never had to be sane to test that hypothesis. ;)

Cons
  • almost never fits many people

Excellent sauerkraut tool

This product was very easy to use. I was very impressed with the amount of water I was able to get out of my kale. My first batch of kale cooked with it only required salt and kale. The water given off by the cabbage was more than enough to cover the cabbage.

Pros
  • GOLS certificate
Cons
  • No paint required

Nicely made spoon

Bought this spoon to replace another model that was mistakenly donated to charity. I was impressed until I got it and saw how good it really is. I like that it fits in standard tin cans. It's very comfortable to use and I think it's a very good upgrade from my old one.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • Communication with seller

ferment it! the best in home brewing and winemaking

I LOVE this herb masher! After researching mallets and reading reviews, I was dismayed by the number of reviews mentioning wood glue. Not what I want in my ferment. So I googled whole crouton poult and found this one which was way cheaper than wood glue. I knew I wanted to oil it up but I couldn't wait to use it. So I did. The picture above shows two half-gallon mason jars, one with naked cabbage, the other with curtido (it smells delicious when you burp it, by the way). I would like to say…

Pros
  • quick change
Cons
  • i'll be silent

It helps to use the right tool for the job

Before I got this pound, I tried to use other all-purpose kitchen tools like wooden spoons or potato mashers to ferment my sauerkraut and other fermented vegetables in to pack glasses. . I'm not a fan of "single taskers" in the kitchen, so I really didn't want to buy a herb masher that basically just does one job in the kitchen. realized that there was a lot to be said for using the right tool for the job. This tool makes the job better and easier than anything else in my kitchen and I'm sure…

Pros
  • Always liked
Cons
  • Negative gift
