Description of Filler Seachem Purigen 500ml
Unique macroporous synthetic polymer for removing soluble and insoluble impurities from water, 500 ml.
Seachem Purigen media is a premium synthetic adsorbent that is unlike any other filter product. It is not a mixture of ion exchange resins or adsorbents, but a unique macroporous synthetic polymer that removes soluble and insoluble impurities from water at a speed and power that exceeds all other competing products by more than 500%. Purigen controls ammonia, nitrite and nitrate by removing nitrogenous organic waste that would otherwise release these harmful compounds. The effect of purigen on trace elements is minimal. It significantly increases redox processes.
Purigen purifies water to unsurpassed purity. It gradually darkens as it wears out and is easily renewed when treated with bleach. Purigen is designed for both freshwater and marine aquariums.
Selectivity:
Seachem Purigen is the highest performing organic filter resin on the market. No other product can match its ability to remove turbidity from water and bring it to unparalleled clarity. Unlike other products on the market that are simple ion exchange resins, Purigen is specifically designed to be an organic cleaning resin. When ion exchange resins are filled to capacity with metals and other contaminants, Purigen is just beginning to realize its potential. Purigen tends to ignore simple elemental compounds that resemble nitrogenous organics. Waste is the main source of nitrogenous compounds in the aquarium. Fish, corals and even plants produce nitrogenous waste. Purigen removes this waste faster and more completely than anything else on the market.
Performance:
Seachem Purigen has enhanced performance due to its large surface area. All other resins on the market are spherical extruded beads. These balls remain smooth even under a microscope. Purigen is both spherical and macroreticular in shape. It has microscopic pores that increase its usable surface area many times that of a simple spherical resin.
100 ml of Seachem Purigen is able to process up to 1000 liters of water within six months.
Application:
Rinse before use. Use in a fine mesh (180 microns or less) filter bag.
For best results, Purigen should be positioned to maximize water flow through it.
Depletion is expressed by a pronounced change in the color of the balls to dark brown or black.
