I ordered these to try as they are a great price. The filter isn't exactly 12x24 though. The photo shows her filter over the one that came out. It's about 3/8 inch smaller all around. Filters are easier to install when they fit snugly in the filter bowl, especially when you're standing on an 8-foot ladder that goes up to a 12-foot ceiling. Since it's loose, it also makes a popping noise when the fan is turned on and then off. This can also lead to dust entering the duct around the free edge. I…

For the price these filters are not very attractive; However, they are of average quality. They fit quite well, but they could be a bit bigger to go in the return and the filter slots are a bit narrower. The filter media definitely catches some dust and dander particles, but if you look at the air duct and main oven filter, a little funk through. I'd be surprised if it was actually MERV 8. Overall I think this is indeed a 4 star filter. They're far from the best, but they're not the worst…
