MY BEST SEWING SCISSORS

Fabric cutting. When I had to cut fabric with my (favorite) gingher scissors a few years ago due to arthritis, I tried out Fiskar's light action scissors. What a wonderful find! The spring action opens the blades after each cut, significantly reducing finger strain. I'm a convert - since I first tried them I've been using Fiskars almost exclusively now. I have several pairs. The latter are very sharp and cut several layers of fabric easily and cleanly. The handles are comfortable and the fuseโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Winner of the Arthritis Foundation's Ease of Use Award for a design that is comfortable to use for those with arthritis or limited hand strength
Cons
  • New competitors have emerged

Scissors good, as sharp as possible. What is the problem then? Well to be honest I don't like them for quilting. I think they would be great for cutting clothes, but not for the small task typically done in quilting. . In quilting you cut ends/points/etc, but not necessarily long ways, and that's where they'll be amazing - those "journey" cutting events, ie cutting clothes. For quick cuts etc, they're hard to unlock (I never leave the scissors open), notch them, then press the forward button to

Pros
  • Cutting tools
Cons
  • Slightly dented

I used to be a fan butโ€ฆ

Yes they are ergonomic and yes they work well for me being left handed but the second time around STOP WORKING! I have contacted Fiskars directly and still have not received a response. And it's been at least a month since I contacted them. You have to find a "middle ground" to get them cut. And having already had a pair like this, I knew the agility had to be smooth and fluid. These golden Fiskars blades make a "click" sound and feel like the blades are fighting each other rather than movingโ€ฆ
