The Canadian Belt Knife is a Canadian Grohman classic reimagined by Cold Steel using modern materials. The knife is very interesting in appearance. The blade has a leaf-like shape and is located at a slight angle to the handle, which makes it easier to cut food on the board. The slopes are concave, about half the width of the blade, but its thickness in the butt is only 2.5 mm, and therefore the knife cuts very easily, with little or no effort. The notch on the butt is not superfluous at all; the thumb lies very comfortably on it with a diagonal grip. The Canadian Belt Knife is made in 1.4116 steel. This is an inexpensive stainless steel with high anti-corrosion properties, a good balance of hardness/mechanical strength and the ability to keep the sharpness of the cutting edge for quite a long time. The plastic handle is very simple, without frills, and therefore fits comfortably in the hand, fills it and does not slip due to the orange peel texture. The very simple but thoughtful plastic sheath has a clip with which you can fasten the knife to your belt without removing it. Many much more expensive knives do not always have this option. Cold Steel is sometimes reproached for the fact that many of its knives are not very functional and are designed primarily to please the owners. And this despite the fact that after the transition to new steels, their cost has increased significantly. The Canadian Belt Knife is an incredibly light and sharp budget knife for a fisherman, hunter or tourist with “non-budget” functionality. With an emphasis on time-tested construction and ergonomics, rather than top-end materials and fancy shapes.
