One strand I didn't dim had 90 degree joints that caused flickering because the impregnation makes it difficult to fit the cut end into the joint. I bought these to add to my existing 12 volt backyard lighting system. For the price, I doubt they can be beat. Each string has a bushing and a bare end with two wires (super tiny like 18g or 20g) out of the box. I connected the bare end of the cable to the leads on my transformer (which are much larger than 14g) with waterproof nuts. It's bright enough and I really like that you can cut it to the length you want (every 3 led lights have a place to cut). Update, blown light bar. Didn't even last two years. I used them for lighting in the back of my pickup truck. I made my own tailgate switch by combining a three position switch (on-off-on), a sealed reed switch, and a neodymium magnet glued to my tailgate.
