Amazing performance with upgrades, stock is fine.

Converted to E4+ thanks to eevblog! 320x240 resolution, increased sensitivity and many more menu features! I have found that you can record heat videos on my Samsung Galaxy Note with this camera in combination with a UVC recording app! The standard 80x60 resolution is *just* good enough for leak detection, lack of insulation, etc. For everything else, although 320x240 is a HUGE improvement, either upgrade your E4 to E4+ (EIGHT, basically) or buy an E8 ! Also, the temperature accuracy seems to…

Just a great tool!

Living in the middle of the country near the Canadian border this has led me to do a home inspection to find out where Mr. Winter sneaks into houses. Wow! It is amazing to be able to see very clearly where houses are poorly insulated and where there are leaks. You can even see studs in the walls. Underfloor heating, you can see if any of the pipes are leaking. On electrically heated floors you can see if any of the pads are getting hot. Definitely an amazing tool. I'm still getting used to the…

Not sure about actual image quality

Five stars because I'm a nice guy. In the end I actually brought it back. I found some sample images on the Flir website and on the internet. The images were a bit noisy compared to the images on their website and elsewhere. I almost think there is false advertising being done here. I'm no expert on infrared cameras, but even after playing around with the camera settings, I couldn't get such sharp images. It's possible that the camera I received wasn't properly calibrated, but it should have…

Loss leader model, Wi-Fi not working

Take a look at FLIR's full line of products and you'll quickly see that they're priced at car price and $1,000 is relatively entry-level. The E4 has a 320x240 image sensor that has been software corrupted to produce images that look sharp in motion or with enhanced visible light MSX overlay, but then become oddly distorted when zoomed in on. This can be hacked to E8 resolution but I'd rather be a good boy. The TG series offers 320 x 240 images and an SD card slot at a cheaper price, but the…
