Fits my 40 year old 10 speed bike

Boy is it good to have braking power again! Easy replacement for my old bike. I only gave these 4 stars because the surface of the brake pads is flat. Twenty years ago wear pads had their surface cut at a 30 degree angle. Thus most of the pad was in contact with the tire rim. With these pads, it will take time to "wear out" the pads at an angle, improving the brake contact area.

Pros
  • Brand new/never installed
Cons
  • unreliable

Profitable price; Works well on aluminum rims but not so well on steel

Raleigh 10 speed conversion early 70's. The original pads were hard. They were a steal at less than $1 each. One of my wheels is aluminum and these pads work well on it. The other wheel is steel and they don't work that well with it. I'm not sure what the difference is, but it's amazing how different they are. I noticed that Shimano sells these pads at a MUCH higher price; Maybe they work better with steel? In addition, these pads have a square shape, so when installed as received, only a small

easy to fit to the brake pads

My son's 18" bike came with handbrakes which he only used. Freaky 1 bolt only pads. So I tried them and they work fine. They didn't go 100% flat but the brakes arrived and as he wore them down they flattened out a bit and now full pads up front and bake both, not just the front/back of multiple pads. This may have to do with the alignment of the c-clamp brakes, but I didn't move them too much and tried to make sure they were aligned as much as possible. could before they were attracted. Anyway…
