SRS Phot Guy in my review

I just received Fotodiox Pro1 145mm circular ND 32 filter and tested it with the Fotodiox WonderPana 66 FreeArc Kit on a Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G. The filter itself appears well made and screws onto the kit very nicely. The filter does not appear to produce any unnatural color cast. I tested the filter for vignetting from 14-16mm and with focus set to the minimum distance, the circular filter does cause vignetting. At 2.5 feet the vignetting is greatly diminished and I found using the lens profile…

Pros
  • Neutral Density Filters
Cons
  • Not durable

5 stops of light is a LOT of light.

If you shoot moving water in bright daylight then you need this to smooth it out. I would recommend to every one with the AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED.

Pros
  • ok
Cons
  • Limited Compatibility: The Fotodiox Pro ND32 Filter is only compatible with the WonderPana 145 & 66 systems, which severely limits its usability

OK but not for me. good for me

Very difficult to attach to holder because of size. Getting the threads to line up and keeping them from getting stuck is the main problem.

Pros
  • Other Available 145mm Filters include CPL, ND4, ND8, ND16 & ND32 Filters
Cons
  • Time-consuming set-up: The installation of the Fotodiox Pro ND32 Filter is quite complicated and time-consuming, which can be frustrating for novice photographers

Flawed!: my feedback

Yes it vignettes at 14 mm. The five stop is not enough in many long exposure shots. You will need to add the 3 stop. The 3 and the 5 work but it causes vignetting. A problem with the screw-types is that you have to set up and focus before you put the filters on and unscrew for every refocus or new shot. This is tedious. The slide through filters would work but the holder on the free arc is flawed and doe not provide equal pressure to hold the filter. The .9 NG filter is not square and that adds

Pros
  • 145mm x 1mm Standard Thread, both in the front and rear
Cons
  • The filter requires removing the lens hood, which can leave the lens vulnerable to scratches and other damage
