Hard to replace cap

Slightly higher than necessary, the inside dimensions are just right for a piece of butter. Replacing the end cap that covers the extruded oil is challenging as the end cap is a very tight fit and is made of the same thick and rigid plastic as the body. I would recommend using a thinner and more flexible plastic for the lid so it stretches when fitted.

Finally an easy way to butter corn!

We used a stick of oil in a butter dish exclusively for corn. Now this oil dispenser is the perfect addition to our kitchen gizmos. The trick is to remember to take it out of the fridge before you need it so the butter will soften a bit. Once I start peeling the husk off, I take out the oil spreader so it's ready to use when the corn is cooked. It's PERFECT for hiking!

It was a great idea in THEORY!

It was a great idea in theory, but it just didn't translate into a real product. So you dip your butter stick into the groove and the curved piece of plastic sits on the end to put the corn on the cob BUT once the flat butter stick melts inside your corn on the cob you screw it in because the edges aren't exposed to the heat of the corn on the cob that means that the oil doesn't move through the chute to spread onto the rest of your piston. I had oil protruding from the back of the gutter. So I

Love it! Works pretty well!

This works very well. I buy oil in halves so turns out one half of the stick fits in very nicely. The square size of the butter stick doesn't really match the hole (the hole is a bit wider) but still gets the job done. It's easy to squeeze out more butter (even cold butter straight from the fridge) and spread on hot corn on the cob. Making it straight off the grill or out of the pot really helps, otherwise the corn won't grate well if it's too cold. However, this is the perfect purchase as we…

Good but not the best

I remember my mother used a similar one years ago but when I bought this one and tried it it was a little less comfortable. When the oil is cold it doesn't really spill out, but when it's too warm it spills out too much because it's soft. Same problem with retention between uses. If your family eats enough to use up the entire pot (about 1/2 packet of butter) at once, maybe it could work (if you can get the temperature right). For me and my wife it was more trouble than it was worth. But I…
