I got this to keep kosher salt on the counter next to my stove which doesn't work in a traditional shaker. That's a lot nicer than having to get the big can out of the cupboard every time, otherwise my husband always leaves small steel molds with salt for the sake of convenience, which always fall over and make a mess. This is a very cute and convenient alternative. It looks and feels vintage and is a beautiful colour.

I bought this to store salt. He keeps the salt. I love its color, it's sturdy and small enough to comfortably hold in your hand and sprinkle with salt while cooking without worrying about it falling out of your hands. So far, so good. Looks like the photo. A little more than I expected, but it's on me. I measure the width maybe 1/16 inch wider than described from flat side to side, but that's not much.
