☕ Illy X7.1 iperEspresso Espresso Machine, Black Review

This is the second machine I've ordered from stock this week and the second is defective. The first didn't work at all, the second worked but the descale light came on when I turned it on - I even tried to descale but the light didn't go out so it's clearly damaged. They advertise these machines as new "maybe with a little cosmetic damage" but be aware that 2 out of 2 don't work.

Amazing espresso every time, very easy to use and heats up pretty quickly. It's a bit noisy and using the pod for each shot feels a little wasteful, but it's worth it for the sake of convenience. Definitely recommend the intense mix! Only criticism is that it leaks at the bottom. I have to regularly clean the tub which is supposed to catch liquid but also underneath where there shouldn't be that much liquid so definitely something is spilled.

When switched on, the machine heats up for a while - and then immediately goes into red marking mode! Logo. What's weird is that all the instructions follow the book. It doesn't look like you have many options as to what to do when you start the machine. So you turn it on and off and restart it between 3 and 7 times to actually put it in blue mode on the central big button ready for coffee. VERY frustrating and time consuming.
