These are the best bits

Bits from Freud are more expensive but the quality and durability are excellent. High quality carbide bits that are more than just a thin coating like most. They are incredibly sharp and stay sharp even after prolonged use. I don't usually need to sand after using them. You can use cheaper bits, but sometimes they won't fit the collet or chip the wood. A failed project will cost you more in wood and time.

Definitely Square Drill Bit

I was concerned I wouldn't get the product I wanted based on other reviews but I felt the price was worth the risk. This is a wonderful blade that arrived sharp and undamaged. It definitely has four separate cutting blades. Would definitely recommend buying at this price, it will last a lot longer than cheaper alternatives. Buy three blades or one, it will save you money.

Pros
  • Edge & Groove Cutter
Cons
  • Quick Guide

I once read an interesting commercial for Freud's "Quadra" cutter that explained how half the blades cut "up" and the other half cut "down" for smoothness to enhance. No matter how you do it, it works. If you want to finish the entire radius on a "2-by" workpiece, this is your product. One pass on each side (this is a deep cut - not too fast) and you're done. A smooth, polished cut that didn't require further sanding for my application. This is an expensive device. It's worth it.

Pros
  • Power tool parts and accessories
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

I don't have much time to tell you how strong it is, but as it's Freud II expect that it lasts. I've only used it on Southern Yellow Pine (regular pine and KDAT kiln dried after treatment) and it left a smooth finish every time. Does it cost twice as much as the yellow non-name brand I've seen in ads and reviews on Revain? I was strongly tempted to buy a cheaper one, but one thing I do with it is make 1-1/2 dowels, and for various reasons I don't want to sand them when I'm done. So for me it's…
