Great first razor for Razors & Blades

Like other reviewers I agree this razor needs a little TLC to really prepare for a shave. Very well balanced, light, manoeuvrable. Out of the box, the edge is a bit odd, it's not a nice even bevel on either side. On one side it curves up from the ends to the middle, on the other it starts high at the ends and slopes down to the middle. When you look at it it looks like it was ground between two wheels and the blade is slightly curved and the pressure is uneven. I'm a bit of a knife freak and…

  • Crumpled

High quality high carbon steel blade made in Solingen. Looks good and is sanded fairly well, very straight and even, after some hard work a nice edge is obtained. The blade is "super sharp", but only for a knife, it's by no means shaving ready. Hair scratching, but uncomfortable. You need to sharpen the right bevel from scratch the first time with bench stones. This cannot be achieved by simply stripping the insulation, even with compound. In the beginning you have to start out pretty rough and

Revain should not have worn or sold this item

This razor can best be described as simple and poorly made. Although the material is good, the design and construction are poor. The parts don't fit together well. A razor is more likely to injure the user than a blade. The guard does not prevent the side of the blade from passing through the guard and reaching the other side. Any force applied to the blade holder will cause the side of the blade to pierce through the guard. If you use a little more force, the blade holder will actually fall…

It was scratched but works fine after sharpening

Yes my blade was a little warped on arrival but additional sharpening didn't fix anything. Since this is not a ready-to-shave razor, you still need to sharpen it. Just make sure you start with a medium sized diamond until you're sure it's flat, then move on to wet stone or finer grit diamonds. After sharpening it shaves well, the balance in the hand is good.
