After raising the heavy canopy a foot up, these struts actuate and lift the canopy. On these new ones I don't reinforce the hood like on the old ones for safety reasons.

These are not Front Hood Brackets for Ford Excursion 2000! These are the rear door supports. Also, the ones listed for tailgate supports are actually bonnet supports!

Bought for my 2004 F250 5.4L, the old ones were worn out and had to use some vices to hold the hood open. I replaced the first leg and the replacement was strong enough to hold the hood while I changed the other side. The top closes without problems, opens and lifts without problems. I would buy again.

As with many old cars, my hood braces have lost lift. In fact, the hood would not stay open at all. These racks arrived and I immediately wanted to install them. Now everyone who has done this before knows how to use them. This may be why null directions are enabled. However, if you are new to a gas spring, simply pry off the locking clip (with a flathead screwdriver) to remove the old compression spring and snap the new one into place. You don't need to remove the clip on new posts as it snaps
