Great for routing pipe

Home Depot and Lowe's had universal plugs that were too big for my hole. Even if I tried, I couldn't push the cork into the narrow hole. The only other option was lead hammered in. Not sure if I am, but cast iron and a hammer seem to be a problem. They fit perfectly and are easy to install and remove. Easy entry and exit.

Pros
  • Easy to install, torque wrench, removable/reusable
Cons
  • Mostly good, but...

3.5 " cast iron needs hammering

Wow. incredibly tight. I was convinced it wasn't going to work until I tried one last time, took out a hammer and started pounding the lip that wouldn't dent. It wasn't as easy as I thought, but I'm glad I have a close connection. If that doesn't fit, it might take some determination.

Pros
  • Made in USA
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

Works great on pipes, fittings and accessories

The 4 lead caps that came with my house were barely too big to make a good seal due to sewage gas entering my basement reached. The 3.5" lead cap from the HD went through correctly despite the hole, even though the actual grip size was just over 3.75". You have to make it a little more than a hole, drive it in, then screw it all the way in and it won't go anywhere, now there's more sewer gas.

Pros
  • Includes a 3.5" mechanical test plug
Cons
  • Drill kit

Lifebuoy for old houses

The drain pipe from the toilet was clogged and I had to remove the entire toilet down to the floor to get to the drain. Thought if this happens again I'll make my job easier next time. the cleaning plug has not been removed since we have been here (20 years) and painted over with the cast iron pipes. Who knows if it was ever removed. Plan A: An attempt was made to remove the existing plug, but the square brass head was starting to round the corners. Can't open it like this. Plan B: It's time to

Pros
  • No glue, no metal parts to rust
