It works like a dream. My wife can use it with no problems.

I "had" a McNally rim and replaced it because it was old but modern. My god, what's the difference! Garmin is much easier to use. I approached him with trepidation. but it literally leads me by the nose to what I wanted to do. All in all, buy this one. I have no complaints. None at all. George W. Assembly problem

I hope I have a bad block. I'm a fan of Garmin, usually good quality. However, my device failed after being charged and used for about an hour. It just won't turn on anymore. He comes back. Also, they've packed a suction cup mount with a 20mm ball to hold the magnetic interface, which works great. They then added another dash mount that bolts on and has a 25mm ball, which doesn't work with a magnetic mount that requires a 20mm ball. Really cool package. Everything looked new, but that's a bad…

Very expensive Android tablet

I sent mine back after using it for the first time. I used RV Life on a dedicated tablet. I thought the Garmin RV 890 would be more convenient for planning routes and downloading routes from other devices. The RV 890 is just a mid-range Android tablet running Garmin software. I've spent hours on the device trying to load .gpx routes to no avail. Garmin tech help couldn't help and when I searched the web I noticed that this is a problem that others are having as well. Save your money, buy a nice

THIS GPS rules the interior

I have several built in and hand held GPS navigators as well as a phone, an ipad and a laptop. This device is accurate, easy to read and easy to use with proper training. I would probably sway him from his ideal form for two reasons, but they're actually pretty minor. Speech recognition doesn't always recognize my voice, but only a few devices do. Second, the suction cup mount didn't work in my case, so I used a permanent base. This device allows you to plan a multi-stop trip and pick up at any

  • Great for me

Better Google as a backup

I just finished an intercity trip with it. I'm new to this and may not be using it most effectively. However, this thing does a good and sometimes terrible job at routing. On one occasion I was told that I10 in Houston was closed and they tried to send me a 250 mile detour. I-10 was closed, but traffic was diverted to the front road. In my hometown, there isn't even the new stretch of highway that opened over a year ago. It takes me through the city in an incredible way, which is by no means…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Very expensive

Huge improvement over the RV760

I bought this unit to replace a Garmin RV 760 that I've had for five years. The RV 890 is a big step forward. It's not just a big and bright screen. The software has been greatly improved, the user interface is more intuitive, the touchscreen is more responsive, the voice recognition is better and the processor is faster. The suction cup mount to the windshield on this thing is monstrous, in contrast to the much smaller one that came with the RV 760 that kept losing traction in warm weather…

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Lots of stuff
