Note size of dogs

Device works great. The tracking/training box on the collar is quite large. I would consider a mini version for dogs under 60 pounds.

Pros
  • Preloaded TopoActive maps, BirdsEye satellite imagery download direct to device, built-in 3-axis compass and barometric altimeter
Cons
  • Hard to tell

Delivery speed was great

I didn't like the preloaded maps. The contour lines are too far apart. In terms of money, this is a cheaper version of the cards. I like everything else.

Pros
  • Dog list and group management allows you to save inactive dogs to the system for easy setup
Cons
  • Requires a power outlet

Dog Compass - Sucks - Portable GPS

Dog compass is useless. That's not correct at all. The device calibration is irrelevant. The rest is pretty cool, but the device is slower than you'd like when trying to access on-screen features. It's like walking on a 15-year-old phone

Pros
  • User-replaceable battery lasts up to 20 hours; up to 15 hours with inReach enabled
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

The product is very useful in training, tracking and securing your animals.

The manual is not very informative. In order to get enough information to work, you need to connect to the Internet. This is a very annoying practice by this company. Why would you want a third party to explain your product?

Pros
  • Backward compatible so you can keep your existing collars and other Alpha compatible devices; Transferring Location Data Between Compatible Garmin Devices
Cons
  • Appearance

Vizslas runs far - Sport and handheld GPS

Must be able to track my Vizsla in the field pursue. With this Garmin device I can always navigate relative to it. When he's there, the laptop will let me know and I can beep to communicate with him. And yes, if he runs near a barbed wire fence, I can vibrate him to keep him away. It is a rugged device that can withstand falls, cold and rain/snow. Maybe the best.

Pros
  • Interactive SOS alerts and two-way messaging via 100% global Iridium satellite network (Active satellite subscription required; legal restrictions may apply)
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Good upgrade from Alpha 100

I have upgraded the Alpha 100 to this 200i. Very very happy. The screen is easier to read, not brighter, and colors are more muted than the 100, but it's still slightly easier to read and larger. The touchscreen works much better - it's more like an iPhone. The extra buttons are very handy to set up different functions when managing multiple dogs. Using Wi-Fi to download Birdseye species is a winner. It just seems to work better than 100 for that. Using a bird's eye view to see where the dogsโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to set up and monitor up to 20 dogs up to 9 miles with 2.5 second update rate using multiple global navigation satellite systems (GPS and Galileo)
Cons
  • Compatibility
