Gates Water Pump 41107 Review

I have driven my car more than 200,000 miles mainly because the ONLY brand I buy for water pump and timing belt service is Gates. They make the best belts and water pumps today. You can't go wrong with this brand!

I read a review on this product and thought it was a solid replacement. This product didn't last long, only 5 weeks from the time it was installed. The seal in the pump is already broken, liquid flows out of the drain hole and our indicator lights up. After parking the car and installing what came with the car we wanted to replace it as we had the heads removed and the only parts not replaced by OEM Hyundai.

This pump has no obvious difference in quality from the original pump that this pump replaced. I put it on and no leaks and good pace. The paper pad that came with it looks suspicious, but I used it because I didn't have another one and wanted to make one. As I said, it seems to be working fine. Do not discard the gasket and bolt that came with the kit as they are needed to attach the pump to the alternator bracket. I've ridden it for over 500km and no problems so far.

Right price. Installs well on my 2008 Hyundai Accent GS. The quality was about what you'd expect from a cheap replacement brand but it's working after about 6000 miles since install so I guess more time will tell but so far it's held up. Only 4 stars because the gasket supplied is a composite gasket like most traditional types of gaskets, but the manufacturer's original gasket is a metal gasket, but I haven't seen any signs of leakage so far. Bought this water pump along with timing belt parts. I have always replaced the water pump with a timing belt because the water pump sits behind the timing belt and is difficult to reach.
